Great legend of the oche, John Lowe has called on Beau Greaves to get an invite to the Palace – and he doesn’t mean that Buckingham one either – the youngster can find her own way there easily enough.
Famously nicknamed Old Stoneface – and not for his love of the old Bob Marley’s – Lowe firmly believes Beau should receive the honours that have been bestowed upon other deserving female darting icons.
The reigning World Lakeside Women’s Champion, Deta Hedman, has an OBE. And of course, ten-time BDO winner Trina Gulliver and Queen of the Darting Palace, Fallon Sherrock, both have MBEs. So why not Beau Greaves? Good question.

At just the tender age of 22, the Doncaster Ace has already won the WDF Worlds three times and made history as the first female to ever win a PDC Pro Tour title. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg – even though it does make up a large chunk of the massive floating piece of ice.
After all, the royals hand out honours to anyone these days – far less worthy recipients. There’s a bloke in Grimsby who got an MBE for services to cheese recently. Pete from Humberside cleverly invented the holes that go in the Swiss-style delicacy.
Then you have the couple from Oxford who safely helped a hedgehog cross a particularly perilous piece of road and were handed an OBE each.
And to top it all off, that bunch at Buckingham Palace even knighted Jimmy Savile – and look how that turned out. Presumably it wasn’t for services to children.

So, what about Beau? Do we all agree with John Lowe? I’m sure that’s a resounding yes, as he is the wisest of all the owls. Furthermore, let’s see Lisa Ashton sent a letter too – after all, she was the only female prior to Greaves to gain professional status on the PDC circuit. I think the Yorkshire Rose should share the cab to London with her mate.
Anyway, food for thought. So if you are reading this, Charlie – highly unlikely you are – c’mon mate. Give her a medal.
